Senta is one of the most important cultural centres in the region. Vivid cultural life of the town attracts many visitors not only from its surrounding but also from other regions and abroad. One of our biggest ambitions is to broaden and improve our touristical offer in order to satisfy all our guests.
Important programmes and festivals
International Shearer and Sheep-Stew Cooking Contest
International Shearer and Sheep-Stew Cooking Contest was first organized in 2001, and is held every year in April in order to preserve and present the values of the countrylife and traditional stock-raising. Among the programs are sheep-shearing – both manual and mechanical -, cooking traditional sheep-dishes and equestrian performances. Arts and crafts and various cultural programs are also important part of the contest.
The Children’s Festival was first organized in 2009 in order to entertain and educate the children up to 12 – naturally through play and sports. Programmes are designed to fit to children all characters and ages: arts and crafts, puppet-show, concerts, rushes, sports and many others. The families can participate the festival free of charge.
In the focus of the May-fly Festival is the River Tisza with its flora and fauna, especially the unique spectacular flight of the may-flies. Both festival days offer diverse programmes to all visitors: culture, music, gastronomy are all present on the Tisza-bank under the shadows of the horse chestnut-alley. We would like this festival to become traditional event each June in our town.
Meeting of the motor bikers
Meeting is organized by the local Zyntharew Motorbike Club and is held annually from 2008. The visitors can try themselves in various motor skills and contests. Lately the meeting has became international – among the guests from the neighbourhood appear many bikers and specialists from abroad.
Harvest Festival of the Carpathian Basin
For almost a half of century is organized annually the Harvest Festival of the Carpathian Basin in Felsőhegy. The programme-offer is really wide: traditional reaping, preparation of harvest-breakfast, coach pushing, contest in harvest wreath making, swish contest, etc. Cooking contest and cultural programmes are also important part of this colourful celebration.
I love Zenta – the place where friends meet
In August: I love Zenta. This festival is about being citizen of Senta. One of the main objectives of this event is to attract home those, who left this town in order to obtain opportunities to meet their relatives and friends. Music and cultural programmes are also part of this event.
Feast of the Town Senta
From the early 90s, 11th September is the Feast of Senta. This day is the anniversary of the Battle by Senta in 1697. The Feast lasts more days with concerts, cultural performances, fireworks and of course fine food.
