It is the oldest edifice in Senta built before 1762 in Baroque style. (Supposedly they started to build it around 1751.)
The original iconostas was made by Jovan Isajlović in 1782, but it was totally destroyed during the Hungarian Revolution of 1848/49. The new iconostas was painted between 1859 and 1862 by Pavle Simić, who was the representative of Serbian Romanticism in visual arts.
