The village is located in northen Bácska 5 kilometres west from the the right bank of the River Tisza, on the eastern end of the Telecska Hills.

In the Middle Age the place was named Karjad – this settlement was first mentioned in Ottoman tax lists dated from 1521-22. The old village likely to other settlements in this area was destroyed during the Ottoman wars. In those times the area was mentioned as Karjad-Gádorfalu.

Tornyos is an old settlement, its first reliable trace can be found in documents from 1479. Among many others, this village became empty during the Ottoman occupation, but it was not totally demolished.

This is a small village only 5 kilometres far from Tornyos. Its inhabitants live from agriculture. Kevi was firstly mentioned in 14th century – that time the village was a bit closer to the Stream Csík.
